PNY SDHC Class 10

I cant really tell if it’s a mistake made by the store or it really just is the case, but when I saw a Class 10 – 16GB SD card retailing less than its USB counterpart, instinct took over and now its with me.

Research suggests that this isn’t the fastest of their variants as there is a ‘pro-elite’ class much faster than this Class 10 much like how it is with Sandisk and their SDXC serie. I did test it against my Transcend and the speed checks out for both of them although they really don’t go up to the advertised 20Mb/s. Here are the test results:

PNY 16GB SDHC Class 10
Warning: Only 1000 of 15263 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 15.3 MByte/s
Reading speed: 17.6 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4

Transcend 16GB SDHC Class 10
Warning: Only 1000 of 15379 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 15.0 MByte/s
Reading speed: 17.6 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4

I’ve gone around a few more Compex stores but none of them seems to be holding stocks of this one or anything higher for that matter. I’m just lucky I got to it before someone else, 16GB is still plenty of data and more memory wouldn’t really hurt anyone. I got it for 10 pesos less of 700. There are plenty of uses I can think of now that its around but one of the more exciting prospects would be to put a portable Windows 8 on it.

PNY as it turns out has plenty of other products and it would be a welcome addition to the local market if ever a particular dealer would handle them for distribution.
