It was Apple who had the initial idea that a product’s specification is only as good as its form and while this idea has been proven to be effective, manufacturers from then on had to contend with an almost cult standard. This new notebook offering from Lenovo can be seen in several stores already but it doesn’t seem to be getting as much mileage as it wants to. If I’m not mistaken, this is already a refresh of their S line of products which span their netbooks and ultraportable series.
It piqued my interest because of how it is designed. Coming in four shades of pastel and having these colors flow to the sides while keeping the computing area and the screen simple reminded me of how Apple tends to be (hence the introduction). The S200 (Intel) and the S206 (AMD) in my opinion looks quite nice and has enough color variety to cater to discerning tastes, unless of course a metallic sheen is something you’d be looking for.
At 11.6″ the S206 powered by the AMD C60 clocked at a max 1.3Ghz is priced at 17,900Php a contender of sorts for the under 20k budget, the s200 with the Intel chip should hover around that same vicinity as well. Something to look out for if in the market for an ultraportable.
