Quad Core Atoms

A startling revelation hit me the other day while I was looking around the netbooks section of Compex.
One of the devices they carry has within it an Intel Atom D510 and while I know that this probably means zilch to 90% of the populace you would be surprised to find out that the processor count for this one is 4.

This one, along with other atom processors which begin with the number ‘5’ have hyperthreading technology enabled on them.
While the devices are being marketed as dual cores, they actually have some potential under the hood; some softwares utilize these virtual cores and apply them aggressively during intense computing requirements such as transcoding and whatnot.

One member of this hyperthreading family can be found within the Asus 1015PEM, I missed it when I was playing with it but I already verified it to be true. So if youre out to buy a new netbook, this can certainly be a point of consideration.
