At The Podium earlier today was the release of the first batch of the all new Samsung Galaxy Note, the 5.3 inch smartphone-slash-tablet. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard of this wonderful innovation, here’s a quick rundown of specifications:
1280×800 Super HD AMOLED display, Gorilla Glass, Dual-core 1.4Ghz processor, S-Pen pressure sensitive input, 8 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front cameras, 1080p playback and capture, plus all the latest wireless connectivity components.
The sale started exactly as the mall opened and the turnout was nothing short of fantastic. People were lining up for both the schemes that they made available: the Smart locked deal which gets you the phone for free with a 2000 peso postpaid plan with the first monthly bill free, and the openline deal wherein you get the phone for 2000 less than its intended SRP and a limited subscription to the digital edition of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Both the schemes come with a free leather flip cover which is very peculiar as it completely replaces the back panel seamlessly interfacing it with the phone.
At the far end of the Samsung setup were two artists armed with SGNotes creating caricatures for willing participants. There were also several Notes on display but I think those were prototype units as they were not as responsive as the ones that were being sold.
I wonder how many units they were able to sell off today… here’s two units with my brother JJ and Tel, finally replacing the 5 year old Moto Q9 and a Blackberry. Enjoy your Android experience guys, I’m certain you wont regret it!
